Guided School Programs at Deer Meadow Farms
Book Your 2025 Field Trip Today! Deer Meadow Farms offers hands-on, curriculum-aligned guided school programs that bring learning to life through real experiences on a working farm. Our programs were developed in collaboration with teachers and farmers, ensuring students stay actively engaged and excited throughout their visit.
Why Choose Deer Meadow Farms? At Deer Meadow Farms, students explore how food is grown, how animals are cared for, and how nature supports life—all through interactive, experiential learning. Our approach encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and a deeper appreciation of agriculture and the natural world.
Grade-Specific Educational Experiences Our guided programs are tailored to support provincial curriculum goals for each grade:
Kindergarten & Grade 1 – Farm & Forest Walk Explore soils, plants, trees, and seasonal changes, discovering how life thrives in the forest and on the farm. Grades 1–2 – Farm Animal Babies Springtime visits to meet young animals, learn about life cycles, animal care, and connections between humans and animals. Grade 3 – Junior Farmer Students dig into soil science, seeds, planting, and land stewardship with hands-on planting activities. Grade 4 – Home-Grown Habitat Learn about wildlife habitat, ecosystems, and how plant and animal life coexist on the farm. Grade 5 – Weather: Friend & Foe? Students investigate how weather impacts crops, animals, and food production. Grade 6 – The Kingdoms: Your Frenemy? An exploration of classification and the relationships between living organisms on the farm
What else is new this season? Water. That's right...H20! In addition to the grade level curriculum below, we have added a module for all students attending the farm in the spring of 2026 that underscores the fact that every living thing needs water. Water is life’s most essential resource and a powerful way to spark learning. This station helps students explore how water shapes our environment, supports ecosystems, and affects everyday life. Through engaging, curriculum-aligned activities, students build curiosity, critical thinking, and a sense of responsibility for caring for our planet.
Junior & Senior High For older students, our programs go beyond the basics, offering a wider variety of learning experiences and deeper exploration. In addition to our standard farm activities, junior and senior high students can participate in customized sessions covering advanced science and social studies topics. Additional curriculum options are available upon request, allowing your visit to be tailored to your classroom goals.
